On October 15th, the Central Nebraska Interact Club hosted a Bike-a-thon for the elementary and junior high students in Arnold, bringing our community together for a fun event.

There were a total of 34 kids in attendance, each excited to participate in the ride through the town.

“I ride my bike all the time, and I love it, so it was so much fun getting to ride with all my friends and being the ones at the front of the group,” said 8th grader Micah Baldwin.

The ride began at the school, wound its way through town, and concluded back at the starting point, with the kids completing the route quickly. Kids ranging from kindergarten to 8th grade all participated in the bike ride.

The event featured a carefully planned route that prioritized safety, with safety vests, and w

ith volunteer parents and Interact members stationed along the path to ensure everything went smoothly.  Golf carts were used to lead and follow the group, ensuring everyone stayed together throughout the ride.

In addition to the ride, the children enjoyed snacks and drinks provided through generous donations from First State Insurance and Reeds Food Center.  The kids were also given a pair of colorful sunglasses as a fun prize.

“The bike ride was a nice opportunity for the kids to enjoy a fun outdoor event before the colder weather sets in,” said Freshman Angel Mills.

Due to the success and positive feedback, the community bike ride is scheduled to return in the spring of 2025 with a longer route, offering another chance for any local kids to enjoy this fun, safe, and engaging activitiy.
