Arnold Rotarians are currently involved in an overseas project that will help the women of Zimbabwe, and Arnold residents can help. Former Rotary District Governor Deb McCaslin has secured a large grant from the Rotary Foundation to purchase treadle sewing machines for schools so that women can make their own clothes and more especially, underwear.
The cost of underwear in Zimbabwe is over $4.00 a pair, and their income is only about $20.00 a month, so they don’t have any. This is really an issue for women and their monthly cycle. With help from a group of people, McCaslin has made fabric pads that can be washed, and now they are in need of “grannie panties” of any size. The group is looking for Rotarians and the public to donate clean, packaged underwear to take to Zimbabwe to hand out. Anyone who is willing to help this cause can donate either money or the underwear. Please drop off donations before April 5 t First State Insurance.
